Review of Courts in West Malaysia

Dear Members of Terengganu Bar,

Praxis would like to publish an article about the performance of the High Courts and Lower Courts in Malaysia. They have requested that each State Bar Committee give them a short write up or analysis of the performance of the courts in our respective states - identifying areas which have improved since the new CJ took over and areas which still can be improved upon. It will be then be published as a state by state analysis.

Thus in order for us to submit analysis or performance of our own court in Terengganu, we really appreciate if members could provide informations / comments / suggestions that can be used to be highlighted in the Praxis.

We hope that members could email their view or leave comment at our blogspot or at the Legal Aid Centre (LAC) in order for the commitee to prepare a comprehensive write up on our own court. We pray that this may be an avenue for the betterment of our own working environment and to a condusive professional relationship between the Bar and the Bench.

MAJLIS BERBUKA PUASA

ASSALAMUALAIKUM,





Gambar menceritakan lebih dari 1000 perkataan. Keceriaan peguam-peguam muda Terengganu berbuka puasa dengan hidangan yang mereka sediakan sendiri. Tengah Azrul, Azrai, Zamri, Hadi, Faiz, Nik Radia serta wakil veteran Anuar. Err cuma yang baru kahwin tu jangan la makan banyak sangat gear box, takuut tak tido malam bahaya bulan posa ni...

Jawatankuasa peguam Negeri Terengganu telah menganjurkan Majlis Berbuka Puasa pada 31 Ogos 2009 yang lepas melibatkan lebih 30 orang ahli-ahli. Majlis berlangsung di pejabat Tetuan Amirruddin bermula jam 2.00 petang lagi apabila ahli-ahli secara gotong royong menyediakan juadah berbuka. Apabila tiba waktu berbuka masing-masing begitu teruja menjamah juadah yang disediakan bersama antaranya daging bakar, kuah daging singgang, ikan bakar, kailan ikan masin, ulam-ulam dan pelbagai kuih serta cendol. kemesraan dan keakraban antara ahli-ahli terserlah. Menyiang daging, memasak, memanggang, membuat khemah sehinggalah mengemas dan membasuh peralatan semua dilakukan secara bersama.

Gambar-gambar di paparkan dapat mengambarkan ikatan kekeluargaan antara ahli-ahli;

(Daging mula disiang bermula jam 2.00 petang lagi, masing-masing sedang "test" pisau siapa yang paling tajam)

(Gaya memotong daging lembu dara yang baru disembelih oleh ahli-ahli teruna Terengganu bar)

(Chef Mat sham sedang memasak singgang tulang "gear box", sambil diperhatikan ketua chef haji Man di bawah khemah yang baru di dirikan. Kesedapan rasa singgang ni kalah masakan hotel 5 bintang !!! Steady Mat sham)

(Habis tangga kayu, bangku, kerusi menjadi mangsa dibakar oleh pakar-pakar membakor untuk penyediaan tempat memanggang daging, nasib baik katil tak jadi mangsa, wow hebat-hebat sungguh kreatif loyar Terengganu)

(Marina wakil tunggal wanita yang mari awal tersenyum manja, sedang sibuk menyediakan ulam-ulam)

(MENANG TANPA BERTANDING, Juara Blender haji Man, Juara Senduk Chairman, sedang menyediakan sambal belacan siam yang paling sedap di dunia)

(Gaya-gaya pakar membakor dari kiri Hadi, Hayat dengan kainnya, Haji Man bakor, Azrul, Faiz dan Zamri, daging bakor punya la lembut macam agar-agar, diperap dengan rempah ratus rasenya BEST. Err kalau Kenny Roger bukak kat kt gerenti ambil mereka bekerja)

(Masing-masing mula mengambil juadah berbuka, terliur melihat pelbagai jenis lauk-lauk yang hampir semua di sediakan oleh kaum Adam)

(Kedua-dua chef haji Man dan Mat Sham, tak sabar-sabar ingin mencuba "gear box", tak pakai sudu dah direct pakai senduk sementara tetamu kecil sedang dilayan oleh sarini, laili dan amelina)

(Sama comel sama berseri jawatankuasa peguam Negeri Terengganu dari kiri hayat, s/u salwa dan marina)

(Faisal sedang mengeruk habiskan kuah, Haidi sedang menyelongkar kot-kot tuan rumah ada sediakan rokok manakala Faiz memegang bocong nasi takut nasi habis)

(Jamu beramai-ramai gerenti menaikkan selera ahli-ahli, semua bertambah bukan saja lauk sedap tapi suasana santai dan mesra sungguh menyeronokkan)

(Anuar mengetuai pasukan membungkus lauk, sambil mat sham memegang baldi dibantu faiz dan zamri. Plastik beg juga dibekalkan complementary dari Terengganu bar)

(Juara bowling Faisal akhirnya tersenyum bangga kerana berjaya membungkus daging bakor yang tersohor di Terengganu, ahli-ahli lain juga tidak melepaskan peluang membawa balik makanan yang di masak oleh kaum lelaki Terengganu bar)

(Hayat tersenyum riang apabila Juna memakai baju sedondon dengannya sambil diperhati oleh amelina, setelah kenyang Hayat pun berkata "gendang gendut tali kecapi, kenyang perut senang la hati")

Majlis berakhir jam 8.30 malam untuk semua ahli menunaikan ibadah terawih, tergambar keceriaan disetiap wajah ahli yang pulang. Terdapat permintaan untuk menerus program sebegini di masa-masa akan datang. Semuga perhubungan silaturahim antara ahli-ahli kekal rapat selamanya.

SIJIL ANNUAL 2010 - DATELINE 15 OCTOBER 2009

To all Members of Terengganu Bar,

Please take note that Secretary has fowarded email from the Bar Council regarding the application for Sijil Annual 2010. The email are self-explanatatory. The dateline is not later than 15 October 2009. Kindly ensure all the relevants documents are attached together with the application to avoid delay.


Please use the latest form as attached in the email by the Bar Council. We have received complaints from the Bar Council that members did not use the standard form and had typed their own. This usually will resulted in error and mistake. Thus, please use the form attached therewith only.


The forms are made available for members at Secretary's office and Legal Aid Centre (LAC). You may also download it at the Malaysian Bar Website www.malaysianbar.org.my/sijil_annual.html and via the email fowarded to you. The forms attached were:-

1) Borang Sijil Amalan 2010

2) Checklist Form

3) Sijil Annual Form 2010

4) Sijil Annual Guidelines

The following process may be followed before application for the Sijil Annual 2010 is made:-

1) Make sure all your client's account be sent for auditing purposes as soon as possible. This must also include all account at the branch offices.

2) Ensure that State Bar Subscription Fee 2009 have been paid. For members who have branch firm or partners in other states, kindly pay the fee for the partners as well. Legal Assistant is excluded for branch offices.

3) Please check that all receipt for payment to Bar Council made before 30 June 2009 has been duly received. If you have not received/misplace/lost it, copies can be requested directly from Bar Council. Some fees may be imposed for the copies.

4) Login to Jardine Website at http://www.myPII.com.my/ . If members want to do it manually, just download the form. Fill it and then fax/post directly to them. For those who want to submit it online, use the userID and password given to login and fill it online. However please read the userguide before any attempt is made to fill in the form online. You must have a valid and working email address if you want to submit online. They will notify the success of your application etc thru the email provided. For members who have submitted thru online last year, they have made it easy where last year information will be copied and you can proceed to amend it accordingly to suit this year application.

5) So, when all the relevant documents have been received, please proceed to sent the application directly to Bar Council. Kindly follow up your application with them from time to time. Your practising certificate will be sent to the Secretary office and we will notify the firm to collect it.

This is only a general guideline. For new established firm, new practising lawyer etc, kindly consult the Bar Council if you have any queries regarding this matter.

We hope you take immediate action on this matter taking into consideration the Hari Raya Public Holiday on 20th & 21st September 2009 and Deepavali Holiday on the 17th October 2009.
